Fishing Mag Bay in Style: What You Actually Need to Know
If you're researching Magdalena Bay, you're probably seeing the same stuff over and over—epic marlin runs, bait balls, remote waters. It’s all true. But here's what no one’s telling you.
First, What Is Mag Bay and Why Do People Go?
Magdalena Bay, on the Pacific side of Baja California Sur, is one of the most productive fishing zones on earth during the fall season. Thousands of striped marlin converge to feed on dense bait balls, and the action is nonstop when it’s hot.
Anglers come here to catch more marlin in one day than most will see in a lifetime. Tuna, dorado, wahoo, and grouper are also on the menu, depending on the trip and timing.
But this isn’t a port with bars and restaurants. There are no hotels on the water. If you’re fishing here, you’re doing it by boat. Period.

How Do You Fish It in Style?
That’s where we come in.
We run private, fully-crewed expeditions out of Magdalena Bay with options for serious fishing boats, private chefs, full liveaboard setups, and even support yachts that serve as floating luxury resorts.
Your trip can be rough and rugged, or high-end and comfortable. It’s your call. Either way, our team builds every itinerary based on the type of angler you are—not some preset package.
Options include:
- Sportfishing boats with full crews, live bait, and local captains who actually know the grounds
- Liveaboard options or paired yacht setups with full private chef, crew, and luxury amenities
- Gear provided or bring your own—we’ll advise based on your targets
- SUV transfers, private flights, even international pickup and return can be arranged
- Multi-day trip planning with fuel logistics, permits, and everything handled by our team
You don’t have to figure it all out. Just tell us how you want to fish, and we’ll build the rest.
What Does a Trip Cost?
Multi-day expeditions aboard high-end sport fishers typically start around $35,000 for week long adventures and can run higher depending on your group size, number of days, and the level of comfort you want. These are full-scale, private operations with everything handled—gear, crew, meals, support boats, even air transfers if needed. These are also large sleep aboard vessels that include an onboard chef, open bars and more.
But not every trip has to be a mega-production.
We can also offer single-day trips aboard smaller boats, starting around $800 for a 28-foot vessel with an experienced captain and local knowledge. These are great for anglers who want to experience Mag Bay without going all-in on a full expedition.
Whether you’re looking for a five-day marlin hunt with all the bells and whistles or a one-day shot at tuna or grouper with a trusted local captain, we’ll help you plan the right trip.
We’ll quote based on what you actually want—not a package you have to fit into.
When Is the Best Time to Go?
The peak season runs October through early December, but September and even January can hold fish. Marlin are the star of the show, but tuna and other pelagics can be red hot depending on conditions.
If you’re considering Mag Bay, call us early. The best boats book out fast.
